Are you insured?

Laura Pet Sits LLC is insured and bonded.

Why choose in-home pet care rather than boarding?

Keeping animals in their familiar environment helps to alleviate anxiety that they may experience when their people are away. Your animals will receive one-on-one attention and care that follows their normal routine as closely as possible. An additional perk of hiring a pet sitter is that your home will also be taken care of. I can bring in your mail, water plants, bring your garbage can to the curb and back, or any other tasks that can be completed during your pet's scheduled visits.

How do I become a client?

After you fill out the Pre-Meet & Greet Questionnaire, we will schedule a meeting at your home to get acquainted, discuss animal care details, and ensure we are a good fit. During or soon after our meeting, I will take a moment to set up your account on our online pet sitting software, Time To Pet. All services will be booked using the software.

How far in advance may I book a service?

You may book a service up to 90 days in advance. Requests for vacation care may be submitted more than 90 days in advance and will remain pending until 90 days before services are to begin.

Do you accept last-minute service requests?

Last-minute requests may be accommodated as availability allows. A meet & greet is required for new clients before any services will be scheduled, so last-minute requests may be accommodated if time and availability allows a meet & greet to be scheduled before pet care services are needed to begin. A last-minute booking fee of $10 may apply when booking a service with less than 48 hours notice.

Will you administer medications to my animal?

Yes! I will give veterinarian-prescribed medications during a visit at no extra charge. I am skilled and experienced in administering medications via all routes of administration, including subcutaneous fluids and injectable insulin. If your animal is particularly tricky to medicate, please let me know so we can schedule our meet & greet at a time your animal normally receives the medication, and you can demonstrate how you best administer it.

What are your policies regarding inclement weather?

In the summer months, dog walks are limited to early mornings and late evenings due to hot temperatures. As long as your dog doesn't mind mild rain, walks will go on as scheduled. In the event of severe storms, flash flooding, or unsafe road conditions, walks or visits may be performed early or late within reason and at my discretion. Although all reasonable efforts will be made to provide all scheduled services, safety for all is my highest priority. In the rare case a cancellation is necessary, your local emergency contact may need to be called upon. For this reason, it is ideal that your emergency contact is a neighbor or lives very close by. In the case of a service cancellation due to severe weather, a refund will be credited to your account for use toward future services.

How do you access clients' homes?

To ensure your home is always secure, the use of a key lock box secured outside of your home is required. You may purchase one of your own, or borrow one of our Master Lock boxes for a refundable deposit of $35. If you use electronic entry such as a doorknob keypad or an electric garage door opener keypad, that works great! I strongly suggest providing a physical key in a lock box for back-up in case of power outage or system failure.

What if you are not available when I need pet care?

For this reason, I strongly encourage clients to establish relationships with multiple pet sitters! I am a one-woman operation, and while I always do my best to accommodate my clients, I will not always be available. The Verde Valley Professional Pet Sitters Network has a Sitter Finder Form to help you find other local pet care providers that fit your needs.
